Today is dedicated to Britney Spears’s second VMA performance…
2000- “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction/Oops! …I Did It Again”
First off, this is the performance that took Britney from being a cute teeny bopper into a femme fatale/sexbot/superstar
- Um, Britney singing live? Holla! Well, at least for the “Satisfaction” part!
- 0:57, hey, Britney, your pants are kinda sagging…
- Britney, your body is banging. Also, those male dancers… damn!
- 1:56, okay, they are totally cupping/viewpointing here. Look at them build architecture and fill both the positive and negative space.
- 2:23 CUPCAKE hands??
- 2:30 THAT HEAD BOB! AH! It was just too out of control awesome.
- Ok, I have two problems with this performance… 1) Britney spends wayyy too long upstage in the little turny machine in poor lighting, 2) I feel like the cameras were not on their a-game for this. The angles are weird and I don’t think show off the whole spectacle.
- 3:58 THAT LOOK! That looks was pure sex. Also, it was the look that changed Britney from cute Souther girl, to superstar. :)
Ok, so in honor of Britney’s VMA tribute this Sunday, I think it’s only appropriate to reflect on her previous VMA performances:
1999- “Hit Me Baby One More Time/Tearin’ Up My Heart”
I wish performacnes now-a-days were still this intricately choreographed. Not just Britney, but in general, the quality of dancing in modern pop music is just mehh
Things I’d like to point out:
- How epically cheesy/beautiful this performance is.
- Is Britney a robot? “Right. now. .I would. like. to intro-duce. some friends. of myyne”
- If T.J. was in my class I would want to probably punch him everyday in the face for being out-of-control suck-up
- The black girl in the beginning when Britney says “over here” is like REALLY concerned about this disembodied Britney voice…
- I love the guy in the background of the track that keeps repeating “Spears, baby!”
- Britney definitely trips over one of her dancers at 2:07 and gives an “Oh, shit” face.
- Britney is so fierce. Even if she is a robot. And a troublemaker in class.
- Let’s be honest, she kind of disrupted the class with her sexy dance moves and uncontrollably catchy beat. She probably deserved to get pulled off the stage by the ear and get detention.
As for *N SYNC,
- What the eff is up with that final tableau?
- Who is the small Mexican looking style that is upstaging the boys?
- They all look gross and pre-pubescent.
- Ok, this has nothing to do with the performance but after I watched it a commerical for Taylor Lautner’s Abduction played. Ok, hes’ super cute, but next to Sigourney Weaver it just proves what a terrible actor he is and… my gaydar is kind of going off like crazy with him. No complaining. I’d make out wit him. And a couple of other things… just being honest, y’all…
June 1, 2011
1) I Love You, Philip Morris is hilarious.
2) My secret geek is coming out, but Secret of Mana will always be one of my favorite video games.
3) I can’t watch Britney’s music video for “Hold It Against Me” anymore without feeling really, really sad.
4) I am almost at the end of my Facebook life. I just feel like people are so hateful on it, and it like brings out the worst in people. Like suddenly everyone feels like it’s okay to be super mean to others because they’re not face to face with them. I guess that’s the entire internet. And I’m guilty of this too. Sometimes I troll. And that’s just wrong. And I don’tl like being that person.
I am just really, really over it. I am over worrying about posting something and getting attacked for a belief or having someone miss the point and use it as something to tear me down. Or like having something pop on my mini feed that’s clearly someone talking about me. I’d rather live in ignorant bliss than watch people be cruel.
And what gets me, is most of the stupid stuff, comes from people who I don’t even talk to, who don’t even know me. What? Like you aren’t in my life, and have never been a part of my life… 1) why am I fb friends with you 2) why do you care?
In other words, “Internet, why you gotta be so mean?”
Ok, I’m done with my fb rant. Over it.

1) I only cried four times during my final Showtunes Tuesday. I think I kept it pretty together.
2) The cheese plate at the Scottish Arms only has two kinds of cheese on it, and a whole lot of other random stuff. Awkward.
3) I am so ready to go back to Texas, but I’m going to miss everyone so much in St. Louis.
4) Katie, Scott, and I made a deal that we’re going to meet each other in St. Louis in September 2013 when we’re all able to be united again… you all are invited :)

1) I love making magical, mystical memories on Memory-ial Day Monday with my marvelous mates.
2) I feel like this has become my fall back thing to learn, but I don’t care because I feel like I re-learn it everyday. I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful group of friends who I can depend and will be there for me. No matter how exclusive they get :)
3) Apparently what I see as a profusely bleeding wound on my thumb is nothing but a scratch to Scott Allsup. Whatever. :)
4) There is more than one Eckerts….
5) You can squeeze six people in to the little capsules that take you to the top of the Arch.
6) Shakespeare in the Park’s The Taming of the Shrew was lovely. It just sucks that the bugs were going crazy and eating the gang alive.
7) The Fudgery is fantastic and their fudge is to die for.
8) I lived like three days in one today.
9) I am terrible at Spanish and even more terrible at directing two lost Hispanic cleaning women who only speak Spanish.
10) I leave St. Louis in a week……
May 29, 2011
1) Two weekends of Faultlines down, one left to go!
2) Haveli’s serves some pretty rad Indian food for a really cheap price!
3) I think too much when I spend too much time alone. I also probably sleep too much as well.

1) I am really excited for Aside Productions’ summer season!!
2) I miss my Aside family so much.

1) I’ve been listening to Songs for a New World for like the past day and it has really struck me, more so than it had ever struck me before. It’s one of those shows that can relate to everyone, because everyone has faced a new world, a new frontier. But it like really hits home for me…
This is a show about when the world seems to be going right, and suddenly everyone comes crashing down. Suddenly you have to make a choice, to forge forward, or to turn around and return home.
This is my life right now. Literally, I’m standing on the precipice of the next chapter of my life… a new world calls across the ocean… or at least from Orlando…

1) For the first time in awhile, I’m actually really, REALLY excited to be hopefully acting this summer. Communicating with everyone back home about Aside stuff has actually got me super excited about theatre, and I haven’t felt that way in awhile. Yeah!
2) “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry and “Till the World Ends” by Britney will NEVER EVER get old. Ever.
3) A lightbulb exploded in my apartment.
